BLBG: U.S. Stocks Retreat After Consumer Confidence Trails Estimates

Feb. 23 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks retreated after consumer confidence fell in February to the lowest level since April 2009, spurring concern the economic recovery will slow.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index lost 0.5 percent to 1,102.67 at 10:01 a.m. in New York after the Conference Board’s confidence index declined to 46, lower than anticipated, from a a revised 56.5 in January. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 35.67 points, or 0.3 percent, to 10,347.71.
