LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares couldn't hold onto early gains on Monday, drifting lower as healthcare companies weighed. AstraZeneca (UK:AZN 2,948, -47.50, -1.59%) shares were down 1.8% after it said that its drug wasn't better than a rival in treating colorectal cancer. The U.K. FTSE 100 edged down 0.2% to 5,589.56, the German DAX index lost 0.1% at 5,872.40 and the French CAC-40 index lost 0.1% at 3,907.90.
