RTRS: Silver fixes higher, gold hovers at 1-wk highs
* Silver fixes at 2,988.0 cents an ounce, up from 2,933.0 cents
at the previous fixing. Spot silver XAG= last at $29.83 an
ounce at 1208 GMT, up by 1.2 percent on the day. Gold/silver
ratio contracts for a second day, falling to 47.15, lowest since
February 2007. Forward rates on Reuters page SIFO last at
0.56, 0.55, 0.575, 0.625 and 0.675 percent for one, two, three,
six and twelve months, respectively.
* Gold XAU= hovers around one-week highs, last at $1,405.95
an ounce, up by 0.9 percent on the day, driven by a broad-based
decline in the dollar ahead of the Federal Reserve's one-day
policy-setting meeting later in the day.
* Platinum XPT= tracks industrial commodities, rising 0.8
percent to $1,708.99 an ounce, while palladium XPD= rallies
0.5 percent to $757.90.
