AP: PMI Gold Corporation Ltd hits extensive broad gold zones including 218m at 1.83g/t in Ghana

Well funded from a recent A$35 million capital raising, PMI Gold Corporation (ASX: PVM, TSX.V PVM) has some tremendous gold intersections from in-fill and extension drilling at the Obotan project, located in Ghana.
The location of the project couldn't be better, as it adjoins the 60 million ounce AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi mine, the largest underground mine in West Africa with a 113 year continuous mining history.
Gold was expected to be intersected, considering drilling is below a previous open cut mine, but the interesting aspect is that significant gold hits are across five different holes.
Hole 18 highlight; 218.2 metres at 1.83 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 262 metres, including 22 metres at 6.48g/t gold, 1 metre at 101g/t gold and 22 metres at 3.5g/t gold.
Hole 16 highlight; 45 metres at 3.41g/t gold from 326.5 metres, including 23.9 metres at 5.87g/t gold and 6.7 metres at 13.66g/t gold.
Hole 17 highlight; 79.1 metres at 2.21g/t gold from 352 metres, including 1 metre at 65g/t gold.
Hole 25 highlight; 12.7 metres at 8.95g/t gold from 379 metres, including 5.65 metres at 18.48g/t gold.
Hole 22 highlight; 65 metres at 1.15g/t gold from 273 metres, including 20.2 metres at 1.86g/t gold and 4.2 metres at 3.8g/t gold.
Drilling was focused within 350 metres of the surface, or 200 metres below the base of the Resolute open pit to determine the potential for continued mining down the plunge of the deposit.
Results will be included in an updated resource estimate for the Obotan Project, targeted for the September quarter 2011, to be followed by a Pre-Feasibility Study by the end of 2011.
Currently, the current total mineral resource for the five deposits at Obotan is over 1 million ounces of gold at around 1.6g/t Au but this looks likely to increase with drilling results.
Looking forward, PMI Gold said planning is underway to expand exploration within the Asankrangwa Gold Belt – where the company controls a 70 kilometre strike length of under-explored, widely mineralised tenure, previously .
