WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The Institute for Supply Management's services index rose to 59.4% in January, compared with 57.1% in December, pointing to a faster pace of expansion, according to data released Thursday. Analysts polled by MarketWatch had expected a reading of 57.3% for January. Readings above 50% indicate that the non-manufacturing sector economy is "generally expanding," according to ISM.
