LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European stock markets climbed in early trading Friday after posting gains in each of the last five sessions. Among shares on the move, French building materials firm Lafarge SA (FR:LG 48.31, +2.29, +4.98%) rose 3.2% after it swung to a profit and said it plans to cut its debt. Dutch satellite navigation equipment maker TomTom NV (NL:TOM2 6.71, -0.59, -8.04%) dropped 6.7% after it said earnings in 2011 will be largely unchanged from 2010. Among the main indexes, the U.K.'s FTSE 100 index (UK:UKX 6,059, -28.32, -0.47%) rose 0.1% to 6,094.06, the French CAC 40 (FR:PX1 4,145, -7.71, -0.19%) gained 0.35 to 4,165.90 and the German DAX 30 index (DX:DAX 7,389, -16.29, -0.22%) rose 0.2% to 7,416.99. |
